Caption:
This Petri dish culture plate contained a growth medium consisting of Sabouraud dextrose agar, which had been inoculated with the fungal organism, Penicillium caseicolum, also known as Penicillium camemberti, and was allowed to incubate and grow for a period of 14-days. Viewed form the front, you’ll note the characteristic velvety texture exhibited by this colony. As is the case with most Penicillium spp., the colonies coloration, at this early stage of its development, was white. If allowed to mature, this colony would eventually develop a blue-green to gray-green coloration at its center, which would grow outwardly towards the colony’s periphery.
