Entitled, “National Immunization Week in Namibia”, this image was created by CDC Health Scientist, Michael L Washington, PhD, NCEZID. Near Oshikundu, Namibia, CDC came across a young child during National Immunization Week, who had not been vaccinated, so staff administered the requisite polio vaccine. This photo earned Dr. Washington a tie for the Second Place award in the 2013 CDC Connects Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest, in the category of “International People”.
