Caption:
Under a magnification of 375X, this photomicrograph revealed ultrastructural morphologic details exhibited by a microcolony of Dermatophilus congolensis bacteria, which had been incubated for an 8-hour time period. Note the bead-like filamentous hyphae, which are actually composed of chains of bacteria, able to break apart, assuming the morphology of coccoid cells, and ultimately evolving into flagellated, ovoid zoospores.
