This image depicted Dr. Parvez Pathan, an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer, in the process of collecting environmental information from a case of acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) after this female patient had been discharged from the hospital on June 15, 2013. An outbreak of AES occurred in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India from May to July 2013. During the investigation, EIS officers visited 101 case houses, and 101 community control houses for this type of data collection.
