This is a photomicrograph of a small bowel tissue sample, which had been extracted from a patient with an acute case of cholera. Histopathologic findings exhibited here, included an intact mucosal epithelium, and an acute inflammatory response, as well as findings indicative of this patient’s malabsorption symptoms.
