Under a magnification of 26X, this photograph depicted a close view of a number of mosquito eggs, that had been laid upon an ovitrap paddle, by two different species of Aedes mosquitoes. The mass of eggs on the left were those from a mature, Ochlerotatus triseriatus, also known as Aedes triseriatus mosquito, and the two more slender eggs on the right, were deposited by a female, Aedes aegypti mosquito. Commonly known as the tree hole mosquito. O. triseriatus has been identified in mosquito pools reported as positive for the West Nile virus (WNV), and is also a known vector for the La Crosse virus. A. aegypti is a known vector for dengue fever, chikungunya, yellow fever, and Zika virus.
