This 1963 image, depicted the interior of what had been the conference room, library, inside the United States Public Health Service (USPHS), Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL), on the campus of the University of North Carolina (UNC), School of Public Health, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The facility is now known as the Treponemal Pathogenesis and Immunology Branch. Note that some of the facility’s staff, were making use of the library’s reference materials, which would accompany their in-house experimental projects.
