Caption:
This right posterolateral view of a boy’s head, revealed a cutaneous scalp lesion, indicated by a postauricular, circular area of scaly skin, and overlying hair loss. It was determined that this lesion, also referred to as tinea capitis, had been the result of a dermatophytic infection, brought on by the fungal organism, Trichophyton mentagrophytes.
