This image from 1965, depicted an anterior view of a young boy’s face, revealed the pathologic changes of the patient’s skin caused by a case of candidiasis, a fungal infection due to a fungal organism of the genus, Candida. Note how the erythematous, plaque-like rash was concentrated around the boy’s nose and mouth.
