Caption:
This image depicted a ventral view of a male Dermacentor andersoni tick. Though difficult to clearly decern, the animal’s gonopore and anus can be seen in the midline. The organism also possessed four pairs of jointed legs, placing it in the class of Arachnida. This tick can be a potential vector for Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF), Colorado tick fever, and tularemia.
