Under a magnification of 1100X, this photomicrograph of a Gram-stained smear sample, revealed the presence of numerous, Gram-positive, Bifidobacterium bifidum bacteria, also known as Actinomyces parabifidus bacteria. These were Pine strain, P-308 organisms, which had been cultivated on tomato juice agar with a pH of 6.1.
