Created in 1965, this photograph depicts U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Communicable Disease Center (CDC) Captain Harold G. Scott, PhD, standing beside a SAD, SA/C Calculator, a circular slide-rule device used in the formulation of insecticides, rodenticides, and pesticides. Dr. Scott and his associate, epidemiologist Lee Hunter, DVM, MPH, were the inventors of this device.
