This photograph shows a dorsal view of a brown-tail moth larva, Euproctis chrysorrhoea. The larva bears numerous urticating setae capable of producing an inflammatory dermatitis upon contact. These barbed hairs can become embedded in the skin, contributing to persistent irritation.
