This historic June 1966 image was captured in Servilleta, New Mexico, during a plague investigation. The photograph shows a chicken coop and rabbit hutch inspected as part of the environmental assessment following a confirmed human case of plague in an approximately 70-year-old resident. No evidence of rodent activity, the primary reservoir for the plague bacterium Yersinia pestis, was observed at this site.
