This historic June 1966 image was captured in Servilleta, New Mexico, during a plague investigation. The photograph shows the residence of an approximately 70-year-old individual with a confirmed case of plague. Inspection of the home revealed no visible evidence of rodent activity, the primary reservoir for the plague bacterium Yersinia pestis.
