This image depicts four culture tubes used to demonstrate the inositol and thiamine growth requirements of the dermatophytic fungus Trichophyton verrucosum. Each tube contains a basal growth medium supplemented with either no additional nutrients, inositol alone, thiamine alone, or both inositol and thiamine. The differential growth observed illustrates the organism’s nutritional requirements under these conditions.
