Caption:
This image depicts a left anterior-oblique view of a 3-day-old infant born with Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), historically referred to as No. 17–18 (E) trisomy syndrome. At autopsy, cardiac findings included a ventricular septal defect (VSD), patent foramen ovale, patent ductus arteriosus, and dextroposition of the aorta. From this view, eternal features visible include a posteriorly rotated left auricle, shortened upper lip, widely spaced nipples, clenched hands, and abnormal overlapping of the fingers. See PHIL 23633 for a right lateral view of the head.
