Caption:
Under 400X magnification, this photomicrograph of canine lung tissue, including a bronchiole, depicts a prominent inflammatory cell infiltrate, intranuclear and intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies, and loss of normal pulmonary cytoarchitecture with associated pneumocyte hyperplasia. A darkly stained viral syncytial giant cell is present at lower right. These findings are associated with canine distemper, caused by canine distemper virus, a member of the genus Morbillivirus.
