Under 400X magnification, this photomicrograph of canine lung tissue, including a bronchiole, depicts cellular debris and a foamy monocytic infiltrate. The bronchiolar epithelium is hyperplastic, forming multiple layers of epithelial cells that contain both intranuclear and intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies. Hemorrhage is present at upper right and lower right. These findings are associated with canine distemper, caused by canine distemper virus, a member of the genus Morbillivirus.
