This photomicrograph shows the expected negative result obtained when a negative saliva control sample was analyzed for Toxoplasma gondii using the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT) and viewed under fluorescent illumination. Note the absence of specific fluorescence that would have highlighted nonviable T. gondii tachyzoites had the sample been positive.
