Caption:
This image provides a closer view than PHIL 23733 of the feet of a 5½-month-old male infant who sustained ischemic injury due to necrotizing vasculitis, resulting in gangrene. The distal halves of both feet exhibit red-purple discoloration, with blackened distal toe tips consistent with tissue necrosis. One week prior to death, the infant experienced a myocardial infarction accompanied by acute fibrinous pericarditis and coronary arteritis with multiple aneurysms. The underlying etiology was not disclosed.
