Under 500X magnification, this photomicrograph shows the morphologic features of the fungal organism Colletotrichum coccodes (formerly Colletotrichum atramentarium), designated CDC Diag. 45-1095-67. The organisms were isolated from a case of mycotic keratitis. This view highlights septate, vacuolated hyphae with clusters of terminal and intercalary chlamydospores arising from the septate hyphal strands.
