This image provides a closer view (see PHIL 23765) of a gross tissue specimen obtained from a lesion in a case of actinomycotic mycetoma caused by the Gram-positive actinobacterium Streptomyces pelletieri. Reddish-brown granules scattered throughout the specimen represent colonies of S. pelletieri.
