Under 600X magnification, this photomicrograph shows a liver tissue section demonstrating histopathologic changes associated with cryptococcosis caused by a fungal organism of the genus Cryptococcus. The specimen was processed using the mucicarmine staining method, which stains the polysaccharide capsule of Cryptococcus red.
