Caption:
This illustration highlights histopathologic features at the site of an intestinal ulcer caused by amoebic dysentery (amoebiasis), most commonly due to infection with Entamoeba histolytica. Note the lytic tissue destruction produced by the invasive organism, resulting in ulceration extending into the submucosa and focal hemorrhage within the ulcer base.
