From 1965, this image depicts the necrotic condition of a patient’s left arm following envenomation by an unspecified snake. The severity of the soft tissue necrosis ultimately necessitated amputation. The patient initially presented in generally good health and received appropriate treatment for snakebite. The image was donated by Dr. Mario E. Pacheco of New Orleans, Louisiana.
