Captured in 1965, this photograph depicts a close view of a Polistes sp. paper wasp nest occupied by several adult wasps maintaining the nest and developing brood. Many of the nest cells are capped with a white, fibrous membrane, beneath which larvae and pupae undergo development into adult wasps. This image was donated by and is credited to Associate Professor M. V. Smith, Department of Agriculture, Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
