Captured in November 1956, this photograph presents a close superior view of several non-reproductive female worker honey bees, Apis mellifera, on a portion of brood comb within their hive. These workers are responsible for maintaining the hive and caring for developing bees as they mature into adult colony members. This image was credited to and donated by Associate Professor Dr. M.V.
