Under low magnification, this photomicrograph shows a plate culture of Candida glabrata, formerly known as Torulopsis glabrata, grown on cornmeal with Tween®-80 agar (CMTA). Two adjacent microcolonies composed of numerous budding, yeast-like cells are visible, with areas of coalescence.
