This photomicrograph shows morphological features of the fungal organism Blastoschizomyces capitatus, formerly known as Trichosporon capitatum, grown on cornmeal with Tween®-80 agar (CMTA). The fungus produces annelloconidia, which form in clusters at the distal tips of annellides located on specialized conidiogenic hyphal filaments known as annellophores.
