Caption:
This image shows a dorsal view of a saddleback caterpillar, Acharia stimulea (formerly Sibine stimulea), the larval stage of a moth. The caterpillar bears characteristic urticating spines capable of causing a painful dermatitis. Among slug caterpillars, it is known for having one of the more severe stings and is commonly found on deciduous tree foliage during late summer and fall.
