Caption:
This photomicrograph of a trichrome-stained specimen reveals the presence of a mature parasitic Entamoeba coli cyst. In this focal plane, five nuclei are visible, three of which contain a single centrally located karyosome with peripherally distributed chromatin. One nucleus appears to contain an eccentrically located karyosome, while another is only partially in the focal plane and therefore difficult to visualize. A darkly stained chromatoid body is also present.
