This image shows a cow pasture with two members of the herd, including a cow that has just aborted a fetus lying in the foreground, still covered with placental and amniotic tissues. This condition is consistent with brucellosis (contagious abortion), caused by pathogenic bacteria of the genus Brucella, most commonly Brucella abortus in cattle.
