Caption:
This image depicts a posterior view of the right lower leg of a male patient demonstrating multiple maculopapular and pustular lesions consistent with fire ant stings caused by Solenopsis saevissima. This species, native to South America, was introduced into the United States through agricultural importation. Note the erythematous halo surrounding the pustular papular centers. See PHIL 25045 for a closer view of an individual pustular lesion and PHIL 25047 for an anterior view of both legs.
