This image depicts a close posterior view of the right lower leg of a male patient, focusing on a maculopapular lesion consistent with a fire ant sting caused by Solenopsis saevissima. This species, native to South America, was introduced into the United States through agricultural importation. Note the erythematous halo surrounding the central pustular lesion.
