This image depicts a superior view of a young boy’s head, highlighting a scalp lesion diagnosed as favus, a form of tinea capitis caused by a dermatophytic fungal organism. A large, erythematous, crusted lesion is visible on the vertex of the scalp and is accompanied by alopecia. See PHIL 25110, 25112, and 25113 for additional views of this child’s condition.
