This image shows a close view of the closed eyes of a 3-month-old male infant with congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection and associated chorioretinitis (see PHIL 25341). Bilateral conjunctivitis is present (see PHIL 25342), with white exudate along the lower eyelids. Marked periorbital swelling with violaceous discoloration suggests underlying hemorrhage.
