This image depicts a close view of a post-operative wound site infected with bacteria of the genus Staphylococcus. Necrotic tissue is present, including a fractured bone stabilized with a metallic plate and screws. In addition to staphylococcal osteomyelitis, the patient developed pneumonia and endocarditis.
