Caption:
Under a magnification of 1400X, this photomicrograph of a Grocott-Gomori methenamine silver (GMS)-stained sample highlights numerous yeast-form Talaromyces marneffei organisms, formerly known as Penicillium marneffei. Note that several of these cells are undergoing division by fission, resulting in the formation of two genetically identical daughter cells.
