Under a magnification of 1400X, this photomicrograph of a Grocott-Gomori methenamine silver (GMS)-stained sample highlights multiple dividing yeast-form Talaromyces marneffei organisms, formerly known as Penicillium marneffei. Each cell is undergoing fission, resulting in the formation of two genetically identical daughter cells.
