This image depicts a close view of a patient’s glans penis demonstrating a primary intraurethral syphilitic chancre caused by the spirochetal bacterium Treponema pallidum. A small amount of purulent discharge is visible at the urethral meatus. Darkfield examination was positive for syphilis.
