Caption:
This clinical photograph shows a patient with rhinocerebral mucormycosis caused by Rhizopus arrhizus. Left-sided proptosis is evident, along with generalized palpebral swelling and erythema. Ocular misalignment is present: the right eye deviates toward the patient’s left, while the affected left eye, held open for examination, remains fixed in a forward gaze. See PHIL 4303, 14554, and 26281 for additional views of this patient’s condition.
