This image depicted a dorsal view of a lone star tick, Amblyomma americanum. You will note the characteristic silvery-white mark, present at the posterior central margin of the scutum, that designated this as an adult female. Smaller males display light streaks on their scutal margin. See PHIL 26374, for a ventral view of this specimen.
