Caption:
This historic image from 1979 shows a close-up view of a 30-well microtiter plate used in a hemagglutination assay. In wells A14, A15, and B1, red blood cells (RBCs) have settled to form a compact “button” at the bottom of each well. In contrast, wells A1, A2, and A3 demonstrate hemagglutination, producing a diffuse film along the interior surface of each well.
