This image shows a high-magnification anterior view of the head of an unidentified wasp (order Hymenoptera). Note the three simple eyes (ocelli), arranged in a triangular configuration between the two compound eyes on either side of the head. The forward-projecting antennae are broken, leaving only the scape (base) and pedicel (stem) intact.
