Caption:
This x-ray depicts a plantar view of a patient’s feet, highlighting severe degenerative osteophytic changes involving the right phalangeal bones. Note the marked bony disintegration of toes 2 and 3, including metatarsals 2 and 3, as well as the proximal, middle, and distal phalanges of the respective toes. These calcific changes are due to leprosy caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. This is the same patient whose hand x-ray is shown in PHIL 26573.
