This image depicts an anterior view of two slant culture test tubes illustrating the growth of two strains of Trichophyton tonsurans on ammonium nitrate agar supplemented with thiamine. The tube on the left was inoculated with T. tonsurans strain R-9, while the tube on the right was inoculated with the pleomorphic form of strain R-9. Note the differences in colonial morphology exhibited by the two strains.
