Caption:
This photomicrograph depicts numerous Paenibacillus alvei, formerly known as Bacillus alvei, bacteria that had been processed using the Gram-stain technique. These bacteria are flagellated (see PHIL 14756), and their flagella may be demonstrated using a flagella stain such as the Leifson method, which the Gram stain does not reveal.
