This image depicts a dorsal view of a patient’s third and fourth fingertips on her left hand, revealing splinter hemorrhages of the nail beds beneath the fingernails, resulting from trichinosis. Splinter hemorrhages are a recognized manifestation of trichinosis, a parasitic infection acquired through consumption of raw or undercooked pork infected with larvae of roundworms from the genus Trichinella.
