Caption:
This image depicts the arm of a 66-year-old woman with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, 12 weeks after receiving a smallpox vaccination. See PHIL 14251 for a closer view of the vaccination site. The vaccination had been administered as treatment for an indolent oral herpes simplex ulcer (see PHIL 14252); however, it proved ineffective and resulted in the development of progressive vaccinia.
